The Three legs of DAWG
Time saves lives. Fawster DAWG provides opportunity for dogs to leave the shelter quickly – opening a spot in for another homeless dog and allowing the foster dog to decompress and heal while they learn to be family members and prepare for their forever homes.
Adopt a Dawg
Adopt-A-DAWG is a simple concept with enormous impact. The DAWG Project supports adoption of shelter dogs by working in partnership with Dallas Animal Services to promote shelter adoption; by hosting and managing DAS adoption events; and by encouraging successful adoptions through effective adoption counseling at these events
Lucky DAWG is a catch-all program to change the luck of Dallas dogs. DAWG does this by arranging transport of Dallas shelter dogs to cities where they will be adopted, by removing barriers to basic pet care within the underserved areas of our community, and by providing information and medical resources to support fosters, adopters and pet-owners.
The mission of The DAWG Project is to save the lives of Dallas dogs through collaboration with the city, the shelter and the community, and to facilitate the movement of Dallas toward becoming a no-kill community.
We achieve our mission by implementing and managing three simple programs:
- Fawster DAWG - building, managing and growing a foster network for Dallas shelter dogs
- Adopt-A-DAWG - providing adoption counseling and other support at adoption events for Dallas shelter dogs
- Lucky DAWG - removing barriers to basic pet care for under-served communities; providing creative solutions for adoption of Dallas dogs
- The dream of The DAWG Project to take this simple, life-saving program into cities around the US and save dogs everywhere.
