Our foster program is the most important piece of our mission to save the lives of shelter dogs.
Fosters provide a temporary home to a dog in need, while DAWG provides supplies and medical care for the dog, making it easy and free to save a life.
Here are some of the ways in which you can help shelter dogs as a foster:
- Provide a safe space for shy, timid dogs to decompress from the shelter environment
- Help a dog recover from a medical condition (broken limb, heartworm treatment, etc.)
- Socialize and train dogs on basic household manners to become more adoptable
- Temporary foster for a dog awaiting adoption transport to a location upstate
